Black Diamond Advanced Technology announced in mid-August that it was selected by Carnegie Robotics LLC to create an operator control unit that mandates command and control applications for ground robots.
The company is leveraging the technology and work it put into its Modular Tactical System product family, which has been used in theater. Using specifications it receives from Carnegie Robotics, the company will design, develop and prototype a new version of a chest-mounted or hand-held controller for autonomous mine detection missions using UGVs.
"The OCU will allow Carnegie Robotics end customers the ability to safely and accurately manage their UGVs with an intuitive human-machine interface device that takes advantage of BDATech's legacy of cutting-edge human factors experience as a leading defense electronics OEM," says Norman Lange, director of product development at Black Diamond Advanced Technology.
Black Diamond projects the product will be delivered in 2016.
