Austria-based Riegl announced today that it has released a new app that allows for easier lidar data demonstrations through an iPad.

The RiALITY app provides visualization and navigation of point clouds acquired through the company’s laser scanners. The point clouds are displayed in true color and in 3-D. The app also features an augmented reality mode, which allows the point clouds to be virtually projected into the real world.

The scans can also be imported from the company’s RiSCAN Pro software to the app.

“We’re pleased to present a new way of visualizing point clouds. RiALITY delivers this new technology by providing augmented reality technology in an easy-to-use app,” says Ananda Fowler, Riegl’s manager of terrestrial laser scanning software. “Now you can easily send your client a 3-D point cloud that they can visualize on their iPad for free.”
