Last week. the Federal Aviation Administration granted four more commercial unmanned aircraft systems exemptions, bringing the total number of exemptions to 46.

FalconSkyCam is now permitted to use a DJI Phantom 2 UAS to capture aerial photography for real estate, surveying, marine photo and video, agriculture, and special events.

Build Imagery received an exemption to operate the 3D Robotics Iris+ and the DJI Inspire 1 UAS for aerial photography supporting architectural, engineering, and construction industry sites and in motion picture and television operations.

Quiet Creek Corp. was granted permission to operate the SenseFly eBee UAS to conduct mapping and precision agriculture operations.

Finally, BNSF Railway Co. will use the AirRobot AR180, AirRobot AR200 and 3D Robotics Spektre industrial multirotor aerial vehicle  to conduct small unmanned aircraft system operations over BNSF owned or controlled railroad infrastructure and operations.

The FAA found that all of the above operations will improve on safety and efficiency in their respective fields. The aircraft do not carry passengers or flammable fuel and will also cut down on certain dangerous inspections involving climbers.

The total number of petitions for exemption is over 560 as of March 13, 2015.
