This week, iRobot announced its 340 SUGV tactical mobile ground robot, an enhanced version of the 310 SUGV.

The updated model weighs less than 30 pounds and can lift up to 25 pounds up close and 13 pounds with its arms extended. The 340 SUGV is dust and water resistant, contains a camera with white and infrared illumination and up to 28x optical zoom and 324x digital.

“We believe that pound for pound, 340 SUGV is the most capable and highest performing robot in its weight class,” says Tom Frost, senior vice president and general manager of iRobot Defense and Security. “Having a sub-30 pound, rugged robot that can extend into environments with water, including culverts and caves, is critical.”

Multiple 340 SUGV robots can be controlled from a single, two-pound controller or through a tablet with iRobot’s uPoint Multi-Robot Controller.
