CybAero has released the APID One line of remotely piloted helicopters based on 20 years of experience and refinement of its APID 60 unmanned helicopter.
“We have been seeing a rapid increase in demand in several different areas of application for a long time now,” says CybAero CEO Mikael Hult. “As a result, we have developed a new product line based on the expertise and experience we have accumulated over the years.”
The APID One comes in three different models, the Defence, Rescue and Ranger.
APID One Defense is for defense clients and is the most advanced of the three aircraft, according to a company press release.
The APID One Rescue is for civilian applications such as fire monitoring, search and rescue, natural disasters, and traffic accidents. According to a company press release, the Rescue can take off from just about anywhere and also has a maritime configuration that allows for autonomous take off and landing from ships at sea.
The APID One Ranger is designed for commercial applications and can be outfitted with lidar or synthetic aperture radar sensors. The system allows for cost effective monitoring of utility infrastructure, and industrial facilities and in applications such as environmental research, mapping, traffic surveillance and wildlife conservation.
A company within the Aviation Industry Corp. of China has agreed to order five systems from CybAero for expected delivery in 2015.
“It is especially exciting to be able to reveal that the order is for CybAero’s APID One Ranger model, which we unveiled today,” says Hult.
