A $20 million firm-fixed contract is being awarded to QinetiQ North America for its Talon IV military robot.
The Talon IV will be used to detect life threatening IEDs and perform reconnaissance while being remotely on the field.
“We are proud to provide the Iraqi military with additional TALON IV robots to keep their military, first responders and civilians safe from the extreme dangers caused by improvised explosive devices,” said J.D. Crouch, chief executive officer of QinetiQ North America, in a press release.
QinetiQ North America has aimed to provide numerous robots to help insure the safety of the U.S. military when it comes to IED detection; chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense/hazmat detection and identification; reconnaissance; combat engineering and SWAT/military police unit assistance, according to the company.
The award will be in full effect by March
