ViaSat, Harris Demo Small Tactical Terminal Operations

ViaSat Inc. and Harris Corp. have announced that they recently completed demonstrations of the Small Technical Terminal KOR-24A using Harris’ high-band power amplifier to extend air-to-ground-range operations of two separate radios.



The demonstrations occurred in both Carlsbad, Calif., and at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., in early December. 



The two-channel terminal used simultaneous 63-watt Link and 50-watt Soldier Radio Waveform communications in a software-defined radio for the tests. 



The STT/KOR-24A weighs 16 pounds, and its applications include rotary wing, light aircraft, small boats, unmanned aircraft and ground forces efforts.
