Kongsberg Gallium Debuts New BVLOS Display Technology
Ottawa, Canada, company Kongsberg Gallium is releasing a new safety display technology for unmanned aircraft systems that aims to extend their capabilities for commercial use.
Partially funded through a research grant through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program, the software can provide spatial awareness for beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations. This real-time awareness could expand the envelope of operations for UAS, waiving the range limitations of many flights, according to the company.
“The revenues generated by the commercial UAV market will grow exponentially when beyond-line-of-sight operations are permissible, and we feel this new safety display technology will be key to help operators to gain that approval,” says Ranald McGillis, president of Kongsberg Gallium.
