New Jersey’s Children’s Specialized Hospital announced that it is the first pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the country to use a VGo robot as part of its new healthcare solution. The telepresence robot allows physicians to keep eyes on their patients at any time of the day without physically being in the hospital.

A person using a PC, Mac or iPad controls the wireless connected device for the VGo, which enables a remote person to interact through two-way video, audio and motor-driven action. The VGo is integrated with a camera, microphones, and video display and can run for up to 12 hours between battery charges.

"Telemedicine is transforming the way we provide health care, and we are fortunate Children's Specialized Hospital can offer this innovative tool to improve patient care and communication between healthcare providers and our patients and their family," says Christopher Haines, chief medical officer at Children's Specialized Hospital. "It provides our physicians critical contact, at any time, to ensure continuity of care for children with complex conditions."

With 12 current locations across New Jersey, Children’s Specialized Hospital patients have access to their doctors in real time. The process is compliant with federal patient privacy regulations.
