Robonic, Lockheed Martin Team on Drone Launcher
Finland’s Robonic Ltd. Oy and Lockheed Martin have partnered in an agreement to create a small, transportable pneumatic launcher for unmanned aircraft.
Called OHTO, the launcher will be part of Lockheed’s ground support equipment suite that accompanies the Fury UAS. The OHTO works on both group two and group three unmanned aircraft and target drones. The design is based on Robonic’s Kontio launcher, which is what the Fury has used to date.
“This relationship marks an important step forward for Robonic,” says Juha Moisio, managing director at the company. “The Lockheed Martin Fury is a prime example of the depth and breadth of new capabilities that group three UAS are now offering military customers and prospects in the commercial market. We are very pleased to be working alongside Lockheed Martin and bringing the OHTO into the U.S. market as a fully integrated part of the Fury system.”
