ASV Ltd., an unmanned marine systems provider, successfully demonstrated the use of its new product, C-Worker, an offshore unmanned surface vehicle, to international oil and gas companies in Texas.

The C-Worker USV is designed to conduct subsea positioning, surveying and environmental monitoring. It is built with aluminum self-righting hull, power propulsion, communication systems and can run for 30 days at an average of four knots.

"The C-Worker represents a new way of working, enabling customers to operate safely in the most challenging environments, reducing the risk to personnel and saving costs," ASV Managing Director Dan Hook said in an interview with Subsea World News.

The demonstration showcased the Sonardyne Gyro ultrashort baseline acoustic positioning system and carried out seabed positioning and Compatt calibration and maintained survey lines.

C-Worker used technology from more than 50 unmanned vehicles that ASV has previously built. The USV is capable of integrating various offshore payloads including USBL’ acoustic Doppler current profiler; conductivity, temperature, depth; and multibeam sonars.
