DARTdrones pledges $100,000 in UAS training grants to public safety organizations
DARTdrones has announced that it is pledging $100,000 in UAS training grants to public safety organizations as a way to give back, and ultimately, save more lives with UAS.
For DARTdrones, UAS provide a number of benefits for public safety entities and first responders, but the financial costs associated with launching a UAS program remains an obstacle for many public safety organizations.
DARTdrones believes that every department should have the opportunity to use UAS technology as part of its daily operations, so with this in mind, the company is launching the DARTdrones Public Safety Grant to provide a “pathway for departments to adopt this cutting-edge technology.”

Japan's Drone Museum Horie offers visitors a chance to learn about, fly and/or purchase UAS
Drone Museum Horie, which is located in the Minamihorie district in Osaka, Japan, is the nation's first UAS museum.
The museum, which officially opened in December 2017, exhibits 16 types of UAS that have been produced in Japan and abroad. The UAS range in size, from an 18-gram palm-sized indoor UAS to a large crop-spraying UAS equipped with a 10-liter tank.
The museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn the history of UAS, from early models that were designed for industrial use to more recent models that can send live video footage to a smartphone. Visitors can test fly the UAS, and purchase the ones that are on sale as well.

Pflugerville High School receives DJI Mavic Pro UAS from anonymous donor
Just a few weeks before Christmas on Dec. 7, 2017, audio/visual and journalism students at Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville, Texas received a DJI Mavic Pro UAS and accessories.
The UAS was a gift from an anonymous donor, who presented it to the Pflugerville Education Foundation specifically for use by PHS. A source close to the donor says that the donation came about “partly because of the impressive work done by PHS A/V and journalism students over the years.”
Equipped with a 12-megapixel camera that can stream video at full high-definition, a guidance system that allows it to avoid flying into obstacles, and a tripod mode for precision usage, the Mavic Pro UAS is meant to “give the program a leg up.”
