Quaternium sets world record of endurance with eight-hour hybrid-drone flight
Six years after developing the first hybrid fuel-electric drone, Quaternium has announced that it has set the New World Record of Endurance with the longest hybrid-drone flight.
The eight-hour, 10-minute non-stop flight was completed using Quaternium’s new drone, HYBRiX 2.1, of 25 kilograms maximum takeoff weight (MTOW), in Valencia, Spain.
According to Quaternium, HYBRiX is ideal for aerial missions such as surveillance or first response thanks to the advantage it offers in flight time.

Empirical Systems Aerospace to develop UAS at new manufacturing facility
Aerospace engineering design and manufacturing company Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero) has opened a new manufacturing facility in San Luis Obispo, California. More than 70 skilled professionals in engineering, production and quality control are expected to work at the new facility, with approximately 40 new jobs being created in the process.
The facility, which includes flexible manufacturing lines, a clean room environment, laboratories, computer centers, test cells and office and conference space, will be used to “design, produce test, and certify” electric and hybrid aircraft, including unmanned aircraft.

Naviator hybrid unmanned vehicle completes first air/water drone inspection of high value assets
On June 18, the first combination aerial and underwater bridge inspection was successfully conducted on the Delaware Memorial Bridge Twin Spans, using a hybrid unmanned vehicle called the Naviator, which can fly and swim.
The inspection was a result of a collaborative effort that included the Delaware River Bay Authority (DRBA), Rutgers University-New Brunswick (RU-NB) and SubUAS LLC.
All parties involved with the inspection have high praises for the Naviator unmanned vehicle, and believe that the vehicle can be a gamechanger for a lot of industries moving forward.
