Skyfront's Perimeter drone used to perform first ship-to-submarine delivery via small UAS
Skyfront has announced that its Perimeter drone was recently used to perform the first ship-to-submarine delivery via small UAS.
During the flight, the long-endurance hybrid-electric Perimeter drone showcased its ability to resupply submarines at sea in a quick and cost-effective manner.
Skyfront’s command and control handoff capability was unveiled during the flight. Pilots aboard the surface vessel launched the drone and flew it near the submarine. Once there, pilots aboard the submarine took control of the drone and released the package onto the top of the sub.

Martin UAV, SOUTHCOM successfully complete counter narcotics operations demo
In support of United States Southern Command's (SOUTHCOM) counter narcotics operations in the Eastern Pacific, Martin UAV successfully demonstrated the shipboard integration of its V-BAT UAS, as well as its maritime capabilities, from Oct. 6, 2019 to July 31, 2020.
Support for the mission included the highly visible Enhanced Counter Narcotics Operations, which began on April 1, and was kicked off by the President of the United States.

Dive Technologies successfully trials LD-AUV powered by Kraken's pressure tolerant batteries
Dive Technologies recently completed successful sea trials of a Large Displacement Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (LD-AUV) powered by Kraken Robotics’ pressure tolerant batteries. Kraken expects further contracts with Dive for additional batteries in 2020 and beyond.

First Harvest Navigation selects Sea Machines' technology to launch first autonomous hybrid cargo vessel in U.S.
Sea Machines has announced that First Harvest Navigation, a marine transportation company that connects family farms to urban and suburban neighborhoods, has selected its technology to launch the first autonomous hybrid cargo vessel in the U.S.
A 63’ x 21.3’ aluminum catamaran, the U.S.-built, electric-powered Captain Ben Moore will be powered by Sea Machines’ SM300 autonomous command and remote-helm control system. The vessel will be the first hybrid cargo vessel to feature remote crew-assist technology and to generate zero emissions.

Industry, Navy collaborating to develop highly capable unmanned and autonomous surface ships
When it comes to unmanned and autonomous surface ships, the U.S. Navy will have “a lot” of them “very soon,” says Craig Perciavalle, president of global ship builder and defense prime contractor Austal USA.
“As we talk about autonomy, one thing’s for sure: it’s certainly not a question now if the Navy will have unmanned or autonomous surface ships in the fleet,” Perciavalle says during a session titled “Designing & Constructing Autonomous Naval Ships.” “It’s more a question of when and how many.”
As the Secretary of Defense and the Navy have made it clear that unmanned and autonomous vessels are the future of the Navy, the efforts to bring that vision to reality sooner than later have become a priority.

Sea Machines Robotics, Metal Shark Boats to supply USCG's RDC with autonomous vessel for testing
Sea Machines Robotics has partnered with shipbuilder Metal Shark Boats to supply the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG)’s Research and Development Center (RDC) with a new Sharktech 29 Defiant vessel.
Responsible for helping transition innovative technologies and providing premier analysis and decision support to enhance operational performance across all Coast Guard missions, the RDC will use the vessel to test and evaluate the capabilities of available autonomous vessel technology.
Sea Machines SM300 autonomous-command and remote-helm control technology is integrated onto the vessel, providing the USCG with a full range of advanced capabilities, including transit autonomy, collaborative autonomy, collision avoidance and remote vessel monitoring.

Schiebel's Camcopter S-100 monitoring ship emissions for French Maritime Authorities
Along with its partners Nordic Unmanned and the NORCE Research Institute AS, Schiebel is operating its Camcopter S-100 UAS to monitor ship emissions for French Maritime Authorities. Expected to run for three months, the operation began on Sept. 23.
The service providers for this French deployment cover ship sulphur emission monitoring in one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes in the strait of Pas-de-Calais. Specifically, the Camcopter S-100 UAS measures the ships’ sulphur emissions to check compliance with the EU rules governing the sulphur content of marine fuels. Through the EMSA RPAS Data Centre, measurements are transmitted in real time to the relevant authorities.
