This week HGH Infrared Systems integrated its Spynel panoramic thermal infrared imaging system on a Robbox unmanned ground vehicle made by Nexter Robotics and SERA engineering group.

Typically the Robbox is used for logistical support for soldiers carrying up to 880 pounds of equipment, but with the Spynel, the UGV becomes a reconnaissance vehicle with 360-degree surveillance of land and air targets.

The HGH model, Spynel-S 6000, is able to automatically detect and track an unlimited number of aircraft up to 11 kilometers away, provides full HD panoramic images in near-real time, and is compact and easy to deploy.

The imaging system can be used for full situational awareness and surveillance at airports, critical infrastructures, coasts, borders, ports and forward operating bases, according to a company press release.
