3D Robotics has introduced a new quadrotor aimed at the commercial market.

The Iris is equipped with multiple control options that allow it to be operated from a phone, computer or a tablet.  It also includes a camera mount suitable for a GoPro. Iris also includes a mobile app that allows the user to draw a set path for the copter straight from the user’s phone.

The copter’s arms and legs were created with Zytel Nylon for lasting resistance against abrasions and daily wear. Iris’s autopilot system is based on an ARM Cortex-M4 processor, which the company says allows a high performance 32-bit autopilot system and a real-time operating system.

3D Robotics will be shipping out complete pre-ordered Iris packages on 16 Sept.
