$9 million has been awarded to AEgis Technologies to help update United States Marine Corps training equipment.
AEgis plans to refine two 360-degree Improved Moving Target Simulator (IMTS) to allow troops to better prepare for Stinger missile operations. The simulator is equipped with a 40-foot-diameter hemispherical dome with a multitude of computer generated images. These images are projected throughout the 360-degree space, allowing up to three troops to train at once for threatening aircraft.
“AEgis has worked extensively in providing training and simulation solutions for both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, and we are excited for the opportunity to deliver these IMTS devices for the United States Marine Corps,” Del Beilstein, Vice President of Business Development, Technology Solutions, said in a press release.
The new updates will provide state-of-the-art technologies that will allow exceptional training benefits for individual Stinger team training exercises and further prepare troops for battle. The IMS is capable of changing every aspect of a soldier’s environment in training to better prepare them in a real-life scenario.
Both Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point will be receiving the new technologies from AEgis.
