AgEagle LLC announced a new unmanned aerial systems automation and post-flight data processing management system, AgEagle RAPID, for precision agriculture.

RAPID works with the AgEagle flying wing and a tablet or smartphone and provides control for automatic launch, field scans and landing. The system will adjust flight path for wind and other factors and optimize camera settings mid-flight.

Within 15 to 20 minutes of landing, the captured images are georeferenced and sent through a cloud-based network to the operator’s mobile device. The agronomist can then save a trip for processing data and inspect target areas immediately using georeferenced locations, according to a company press release.

“As any seasoned or novice agronomist can tell you, time is always of the essence when we’re talking about fertilizer, fungicide or micronutrient applications — basically any input decision on the farm is extremely time sensitive,” says owner and CEO of AgEagle Bret Chilcott. “It’s amazing how quickly decisions can be made, and how much time RAPID can save both the grower and the agronomist or crop consultant.
