Airbus and DCNS to Develop Ship-Based UAS

Airbus Defense and Space and DCNS have signed a cooperation agreement for development of the TANAN vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned helicopter its integration into naval ship combat systems.




Airbus will produce the vehicle, payloads, the data link and UAS control station while DCNS will focus on integration into the ship and its combat system.




The TANAN UAS helicopter has a maximum takeoff weight of 350 kilograms and detection and identification capabilities designed for maritime operations.




This agreement underscores the high level of expertise associated with our TANAN program as well as our desire to provide the naval market with a perfectly matched system, in collaboration with our partner DCNS,” says Airbus Chief Operating Officer Jean-Marc Nasr.
