The U.K.’s ASV Ltd. has just released a new unmanned surface vessel, the C-Worker, aimed at the oil and gas market.

The vessel was developed for subsea positioning, survey and environmental monitoring applications in the offshore environment. The company demonstrated the system in January, along with C&C Technologies Inc., which operated the vehicle offshore Portsmouth, U.K. The system was outfitted with a Sonardyne Gyro ultra-short baseline acoustic positioning system for seabed scanning.

The system, in addition to the USBL, has an acoustic Doppler current profiler; conductivity, temperature, depth sensor; multibeam sonar; an acoustic telemetry system; and a passive acoustic sonar.

“The C-Worker represents a new way of working, enabling customers to operate safely in the most challenging environments, reducing the risk to personnel and saving costs,” says ASV Managing Director Dan Hook.
