Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd. has delivered two Quantum MkIII 250-horsepower work-class remotely operated vehicles to Bibby Offshore, a maritime construction company, to increase the company’s ROV fleet to nine SMD craft.

The Quantum ROVs include SMD’s extended Tophat tether management system, telescopic A-Frame, umbilical winch, deck pack and fully integrated control cabin, according to a company press release. It is the largest ROV in SMD’s Q-Series and is rated to 3,000 meters with a 350-kilogram payload for subsea construction or survey operations.

“The two Quantum MkIII ROVs are a welcome addition to our existing fleet of ROVs and will greatly enhance our range of remote intervention capabilities to provide best possible solutions for our clients,” says Mark Wood, director of Bibby remote support services.

“Through our technical partnership initiatives we are in constant dialogue with our customers, and through this medium we have received excellent feedback on vehicle performance, including near zero percent downtime and comments of bombproof dependability,” says deputy managing director for SMD ROVs, Mark Collins.
