The Federal Aviation Administration has granted two more regulatory exemptions for companies to operate unmanned aircraft systems commercially in the national airspace.

AeroCine LLC has been granted a Section 333 exemption for aerial cinematography on closed sets after applying in mid-June. Burnz Eye View Inc. submitted a petition at the end of July and was granted an exemption for aerial photography and inspections.

In its application, Burnz Eye View requested to fly “over land, waterways and oceans” and in “non-navigable airspace, using nonintrusive recording devices.”

As in previous exemptions, Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx found that the proposed operations do not require certificates of airworthiness because they do not pose a threat to national airspace users or national security. Operations will also require an FAA-certified private pilot and observer and remain within line of sight.

These exemptions bring the total number to 16 out of 295 requests to date.
