Oregon sensor system provider FLIR Systems, has developed a thermal imaging accessory, FLIR One, for smartphones, the first of its kind.
FLIR One can be integrated with the iPhone 5 and 5s, which will display live infrared imagery. It can detect invisible heat energy allowing the users to measure temperature changes by the minute.
The sensor system can be used for home improvement, like detecting energy leaks at home, seeing in the dark, outdoor adventures, security and safety.
"FLIR is dedicated to developing and delivering technologies that provide users with a sixth sense," says Andy Teich, president and CEO of FLIR Systems. "Based on technology that was formerly reserved for the military, FLIR ONE is the first in a new generation of affordable thermal imaging devices designed to inspire imaginative and innovative uses by consumers. This represents a revolutionary step forward for both FLIR Systems and thermal imaging."
The imaging accessory weighs 3.9 ounces and is designed with a spot temperature measurement display, rechargeable battery for up to two hours of continuous use, FLIR One Paint, TimeLapse and panorama, which lets users to record pictures and videos of thermal and temperature changes.
