Saint Louis University has chosen Prioria Robotics’ Maveric as its sole small unmanned aircraft system for the school’s Unmanned Aviation Program. The ultimate goal is to allow the university and Prioria to have a chance to collaborate on multiple types of UAS research and other activities.

“This is the key partnership within our strategy for SLU to be a leader in unmanned aircraft systems education and research,” Program Director at SLU’s Center for Aviation Safety Research Damon Lercel said in a press release.

The Maveric is a single-pilot UAS designed to be able to withstand the rough weather conditions, according to the company. It is equipped with payload options ranging from day and night settings to vertical takeoff and position holding.

CEO of Prioria Bryan da Frota said that he was incredibly thrilled to have the new established partnership with Saint Louis University.

“They are an educational thought leader whose research, we believe, will be key to the transition happening in the marketplace of airspace opening for commercial use,” Frota said.

The new team is hoping to make a joint effort to improve the National Airspace System and continue to advance in national defense, natural disaster relief and public safety, he said.
