Bluefin Robotics of Quincy, Mass., announced it has acquired Edinburgh, Scotland-based SeeByte and will operate it as a wholly owned subsidiary.
“Bluefin and SeeByte have worked together for more than five years developing software and capabilities for Bluefin platforms like the Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and Bluefin-21. Bringing these two companies together will allow us to bring integrated expertise in vehicle control, low-level vehicle to high-level mission autonomy, sensor processing, operator interface, and power subsystems to our customers,” David P. Kelly, president and CEO of Bluefin Robotics, said in a press release.
The two companies will market their products to commercial and defense clients, and the combination will give them full lifecycle capability from research and development through field operations and support, Bluefin said.
SeeByte will still be providing its architecture and software products to its customers, including its SeeTrack Military, SeeTrack AutoTracker and SeeTrack CoPilot packages.
“Together, our two companies will be able to address unmet market needs and drive a new level of capability in the maritime robotics market,” Dr. Bob Black, CEO of SeeByte, said in a press release.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bluefin said all SeeByte offices and employees will remain in place.
