Saab Accepts AUV62 Underwater Order

Saab announced it has signed a contract to deliver the autonomous underwater vehicle AUV62 in 2014 as a training target in submarine warfare training. 



“The AUV62 is a competent and advanced system that will enhance and strengthen the customer’s underwater capabilities,” says Senior Vice President and Head of Business Dynamics Görgen Johansson. “We are of course very satisfied to have been able to secure yet another order for the system.”



AUV62 is classified as an artificial acoustic target able to unite with torpedo and sonar systems and act as submarine in order to be a maneuverable training target. Additionally, AUV62 uses a synthetic aperture sonar, which enables its productivity in mine research, reconnaissance and seabed mapping, according to the company.
