AUVSI Publishes ‘Blueprint For Autonomy’ to Guide Advancement of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems and Advanced Air Mobility
Today at XPONENTIAL 2023, the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced the publication of a white paper encompassing all forms of autonomous flight, focused on the pathway from small uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS, or drones) to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), encompassing urban and regional air mobility (UAM and RAM) operating in the national airspace system (NAS).

On Thursday, May 11, XPONENTIAL 2023 featured Keynote speaker Andy Busch, Economic Futurist and the first Chief Market Intelligence Officer for the US Government.
In his presentation, Busch discussed the current state of the economy, politics, and markets and provided context by delving into the past and looking ahead to the future. He emphasized the importance of understanding where we've been to figure out where we are and where we're going.
Robotics and AI at the Tactical Edge: A Sea Story of Innovation
On May 11 at XPONENTIAL 2023, Michael Brasseur, Founder and Former Commodore Task Force 59, delivered keynote remarks describing the founding of the Task Force.
Objectives
In September 2021, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) announced the establishment of a new task force to integrate uncrewed systems and AI with maritime operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. According to DOD, “Task Force 59 is the first U.S. Navy task force of its kind. The U.S. 5th Fleet region’s unique geography, climate, and strategic importance offer an ideal environment for innovation.”
The Task Force aims to: 1. Enhance maritime domain awareness, and 2. Increase deterrence.

On Wednesday, May 10, XPONENTIAL 2023 featured keynote speaker Amy Posey, Founder and CEO of SUPER*MEGA*BOSS. She has spent the last 20 years speaking about human performance at work. She is an author, facilitator, and business leader who uses her understanding of applied neuroscience to uncover better ways of working.
By understanding how the brain works and how it affects behavior, decision-making, and learning, Posey focused on how organizations can develop new technologies and strategies that improve performance and drive innovation.
AUVSI Announces New Members of Board of Directors
The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) today announced the election of new leadership and members to its Board of Directors. The announcement was made during the 50th anniversary of XPONENTIAL, the world’s largest trade show for the uncrewed systems industry, co-hosted by AUVSI and Messe Dusseldorf North America.

Thanks to AUVSI for helping set the vision, and chart the course, for advanced aviation. You’re helping usher in the next era for this industry.
Suddenly, we can do things that once only existed in the minds of science fiction writers.
Aviation is home to many of these breakthroughs. Things like flight itself. Or breaking the sound barrier. Think about this: We broke through the speed of sound in 1947, and just a couple of decades later, we were on the way to the moon at faster than Mach 20.

Welcome to the 50th running of XPONENTIAL.
I am inspired by our Theme: Building the Blueprint for Autonomy. It is more than just a theme – we are publishing a Blueprint for Autonomy today for our community.
As I read the Blueprint, three things came to mind:
How important this effort is
What and who needs to come together to make it happen
How can we use our time at XPONENTIAL to accelerate toward Autonomy
Obviously this effort is very important; you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t think so too! We all know about the massive benefits uncrewed and autonomous systems are already creating.
