California’s Advanced Tactics has unveiled its new AT Transformer, a vertical takeoff and landing aircraft that can also drive across the ground at up to 70 mph and operate autonomously as an unmanned vehicle.



The first technology demonstrator, the AT Black Knight Transformer, completed driving tests in December and is slated to begin flight tests in early 2014. The vehicle is intended for autonomous casualty evacuation or cargo resupply missions.



The company is also working on a smaller vehicle, the AT Panther Transformer, designed for special operations missions.
