2023 End of State Sessions Report: Florida
For the 2023 legislative session, Florida introduced six distinct measures, for twelve total bills, related to AAM and UAS. Four of those have now passed the legislature and are on their way to the Governor’s desk. In addition to their regular session, Florida was dealing with rulemaking related to the country-of-origin ban that passed in 2021, shaping a large focus of this session.

The fourth month of the state legislative session has ended, ushering in a period of conference committees, Governor action, and state adjournments. Louisiana convened on the 10th, marking the last state to begin their 2023 session.
DRONE PREPARED: ADDRESSING COMMON CONCERNS
Drones have emerged as a transformative and innovative technology, with users ranging from state agencies to commercial companies to everyday citizens. As such, state legislatures have begun to take up the topic, debating how and if drone technology should be regulated. Since 2013, at least 44 States have enacted laws regarding drones.1 This year there have already been over 180 drone measures introduced, with fifteen having been enacted.
